Motomachi District, Hakodate, Japan

北海道・函館市・元町

Motomachi, located on the slopes of Mount Hakodate in southern Hokkaido, Japan, is a former residential area of foreign traders.

Many western-style buildings remain in the district today. The area is also home to the “19 slopes of Motomachi”, of which Hachiman-zaka is the most famous and popular.

Shot with iPhone 15 Pro. Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic.

During our visit to Motomachi, my wife and I also went to Idohado Doughnuts, a unique cafe not far from the Catholic church. Please see this post for more details and many photos.
