Takasaki Byakue Daikannon, Takasaki, Japan

群馬県・高崎市・高崎白衣大観音

Takasaki Byakue Daikannon is a Kannon statue located on top of Mt. Kannonyama in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Japan.

All photos shot with iPhone 11 Pro. Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic.

The approach to the statue leads past Shōwa-era souvenir shops and restaurants, along a lane that gently ascends towards the top of Mount Kannonyama.

The statue, which stands at 41.8 meters tall and weighs almost 6,000 tons, is clearly visible along the way, from a variety of angles and perspectives.

The statue is located on the premises of Jigen-in Temple. The next photo was taken outside the main hall and includes some roof details as a natural frame.

Nearby, there is also a much smaller statue commemorating Inoue Yasusaburo, the local businessman who erected the Kannon statue in 1936.
