Dance of the Scarecrows, Shirakawago, Gifu, Japan

岐阜県・白川郷

On my walk through Ogimachi Village in Shirakawago, Japan, I suddenly found myself facing this lineup of scarecrows.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, Shirakawagō is famous for its traditional thatched-roof farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old.

Shot with Mamiya 6 and 50mm f/4 lens on Fujicolor Pro 160 NS medium-format film.

Carmencita Film Lab.

A set of four more film photos from Shirakawago’s Ogimachi village can be found on this page.
