A Nozomi Shinkansen (bullet train) is seen departing from track 12 at Kyoto Station, Japan.
Nozomi trains provide the fastest service running on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines in Japan – the trip between Tokyo and Osaka, a distance of 515 kilometers (320 miles), takes a little less than 2½ hours on the fastest Nozomi.
