Travelogue
Japan 2006, Day 13 - Kyoto, Nara
2006年の初訪日:13日目(京都、奈良)
Short photographic travelogue of day 13 of my first-ever trip to Japan in the spring of 2006.
All photos shot with Nikon digital SLRs, edited in Adobe Lightroom 5.7 / LR Classic.
Still in Kyoto on day 13 of my first Japan trip in 2006, I went to Fushimi Inari Taisha in the morning. After a bit of a mixup between local and semi-express versions of the JR Nara Line, I finally emerged from Fushimi Station and started to explore the famous tunnels of orange torii gates.

I walked quite far up into the shrine and did in fact a full loop of the site. I really enjoyed this place. Afterwards, I boarded the Nara Line again and rode it to its terminus in Nara City, where I explored the historic area around Nara Park which is filled with many beautiful temples such as Kofukuji with its five-story pagoda.

Having returned to Kyoto in the evening, I took a walk around the Gion district. I was struck by this approach to dining while being able to look at an illuminated cherry tree in full bloom.
