Japan 2006, Day 5 - Tokyo

2006年の初訪日:5日目(東京)

Short photographic travelogue of day 5 of my first-ever trip to Japan in the spring of 2006.

All photos shot with Nikon digital SLRs, edited in ON1 Photo RAW 2026 (1) and Adobe Lightroom 5.7 / LR Classic (2-4).

Day 5 of my first-ever trip to Japan in 2006 was spent entirely in Tokyo. In the morning, I went to the Ginza district, where after a short walk and an interesting visit to the Sony Building, I met a friend for lunch. He worked at Ricoh at the time, and I was able to sneak a photo in the lobby without the guard noticing.

After lunch, I went to nearby Akihabara and checked out some of the electronics stores. I was searching for a particular new Nikon zoom lens at the time, but found that it wasn’t available yet.

So then I refocused to my next destination for the rest of the day, which was Shinjuku. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building made for a great place to spend some time. I was able to capture a nice scene at a bar, and tried to use the kaleidoscope-like mirrors in the underground pedestrian tunnels for some fun photography.

Emerging from said tunnel, I noticed that it had already gotten dark outside. I made another attempt at finding my desired lens at some of Shinjuku’s camera stores, but no luck.
