Autumn Sunday Walk to Yushima, Tokyo, Japan

ブログ

Taking advantage of the nice Tokyo autumn weather this Sunday, I took a short walk from Ochanomizu to the Yushima area in Bunkyo Ward.

Passing Kanda Myojin, the famous local shrine, …

… I went to Naruto Taiyaki Honpo. This chain of taiyaki shops drew some media attention a few years ago from the fact that Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler is a big taiyaki fan, and used to frequent one of their shops while the band was touring Japan. The fresh taiyaki was a tasty treat …

… on the way to Tohto records & books. I went to this shop for the first time, and found that they have a good stock of vinyl records, cassette tapes and CDs, all of which seem quite reasonably priced. I don’t own a record player right now, and there isn’t a whole lot of space in our Tokyo apartment to hold a new collection of records - but I like browsing through them like I did as a teenager in the 1980s, and I find it comforting that vinyl is still around these days.
