SKWAT Kameari Art Center, Tokyo, Japan

ブログ

Today, I went to SKWAT Kameari Art Center (SKAC) in Nishikameari, Tokyo, Japan. An Interesting space filled with vinyl records and photography / art books.

Upon arrival at JR Kameari Station, I was greeted by a statue of Kankichi Ryotsu, the main male protagonist/anti-hero of the long-running Japanese manga and anime series KochiKame by Osamu Akimoto.

Photos shot with iPhone 15 Pro. Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic.

Walking in western direction along the elevated JR line tracks, it took around ten minutes to reach SKAC (SKWAT Kameari Art Center). The spatial design makes use of a good chunk of “urban leftover space” that is found under train tracks. Exposed concrete, steel pipes and leftover shipping materials provide an interesting raw and improvised feel to the place.
