Ascent to Hikone Castle, Japan

彦根城への登り

Ascending to the main keep of Hikone Castle in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, during peak Cherry Blossom Season.

During the ascent to Hikone Castle, the main keep comes into view after walking past a grand fortification wall. Hikone Castle is an original castle, which means that it survived the post-feudal era without experiencing any destruction or reconstruction. It is also one of only four castles in Japan designated as a “National Treasure”.

Shot with Mamiya 6 and 50mm f/4 lens on Fujicolor Pro 160NS medium-format film.
Developed and scanned by
CarmencitaFilm Lab.

This image is part of “Cherry Blossoms at Hikone Castle on Film”, a full album of film photographs taken at this beautiful Japanese castle during the peak of the season.
