Automobile Lifts, Old Elbe Tunnel, Hamburg, Germany

ドイツ・ハンブルク

A view of the automobile lifts inside the St. Pauli Elbe Tunnel in Hamburg, Germany.

At its opening in September 1911, the 426 m long tunnel was a technical sensation: 24 meters below surface level, two tubes connect central Hamburg with the docks and shipyards on the south side of the river Elbe. The two tunnels are still in operation, although most of the traffic capacity has been taken over by more modern bridges and tunnels in the area.

Shot with Nikon D200 and Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Edited in Lightroom 5.7.
