On my walk through Ogimachi Village in Shirakawagō (白川郷), Japan, I suddenly found myself facing this lineup of scarecrows. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, Shirakawagō is famous for its traditional thatched-roof farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old.
