I took this photo along the approach to Hikone Castle (彦根城) in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. This portion was designed as a spiral ramp onto a wooden bridge that can be easily destroyed in case of an attack, thus creating a significant obstacle for intruders.
Shot with Mamiya 6 and 50mm f/4 lens on Fujicolor Pro 160 NS medium-format film. Developed and scanned by Carmencita Film Lab.
