Omamori (Talismans), Dazaifu Tenmangu, Japan

Dazaifu Tenmangū in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture, is a shrine frequented by students who visit in order to pray for academic achievement. This photo shows a stand inside the shrine selling Omamori (お守り; written as おまもり here). Omamori are amulets that are said to provide various forms of luck or protection – in the case of Dazaifu Tenmangu, a variety of education-themed talismans focusing on successful studies or luck in passing exams are available.
