About the photographer
I'm Norbert Woehnl, a Germany-based freelance photographer with more than 20 years of experience behind the lens. My main photo subjects are landscapes, architecture and urban scenes. As an avid traveller, I shoot mostly on location, striving to capture the essence of a place, and the magic of a moment. I have been an active photographer since the mid-1980s, when I had bought my first Nikon SLR camera (which is still functional to this date). On numerous journeys to North America, Japan and within Europe, I have since been able to build a continuously growing stock of photographs. The advent and evolution of digital cameras further boosted my interest and focus on photography. About the equipment DSLR bodies: Nikon D200, Nikon D70 Lenses: Nikkor 18-70 f/3.5, Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR, Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5 VR, Tokina 12-24 f/4 Also various compact digital cameras, and Nikon F-301 (analog SLR). About post-processing I believe that 90% of the "processing" to achieve the desired result has to happen at the time of shooting the photo - i.e. be at the right place at the right time, find the composition and framing to convey the story, and take the picture with the camera set to an appropriate parameter range (aperture, speed, ISO as well as use of filters and/or flash, where needed). I prefer a natural and spontaneous look to my photos - hence I limit the computer-editing to minor steps such as rotations and color/contrast adjustments, rather than complex and lengthy post-processing. About publications
Various of my photos have been published in (m)agazines, (b)ooks and (o)nline media, for example:
