In mid-August, we made a short trip to the Berchtesgadener Land, a beautiful scenic area nestled into the southeastern tip of Bavaria, and bordering the Austrian state of Salzburg. The alpine setting offers a relaxing and photographically pleasing backdrop, and beyond must-see scenic areas like Lake Königssee, it is also possible to visit the beautiful Austrian city of Salzburg, or the Berchtesgaden salt mine.

Lots of Flags
Some photos have been added to a Berchtesgaden album in the Germany section of our Gallery, including the sample ones shown above.
The hotel in which we stayed, Quellenhof Peter, is recommended by us for its quiet location, reasonable pricing and charming hosts – the owner is a retired pastry chef, and offers some of the most delicious baked goods that you will find in the area.
Midwestern U.S.
Going through my stock of older photos, I re-edited some shots taken in 1999 and 2003 during different trips in the Midwestern U.S. The photos include scenery along the old Oregon Trail monuments in Nebraska, at Badlands National Park and Mt Rushmore in South Dakota, as well as impressions from Chicago, Cleveland, and along the Michigan shoreline of Lake Michigan.
Below are a few samples – the full album is on my website, in the United States >> Midwest section.
